I just found something that I think you all might enjoy. In 1890 John Singer Sargent painted a famous Spanish dancer who went by the name La Carmencita. His result was a very fine painting of a very interesting subject.
Recently I found a video of Carmencita performing in front of Edison's Kinescope Machines. According to the Library of Congress, Carmencita was the first woman to perform in front of an Edison machine.
It's fascinating to me to see the same subject presented in paint and film as a display of the changing modes of documentation.
